AI Glasses Tech: Ultra-Mini Inductors Power Mass Production


In early 2023, most AI glasses brands faced a core challenge: fitting PCBA motherboards into small frames. This demanded compact, high-power components—especially for managing circuits in high-consumption units like displays, 5G, and computing chips.


One company rose to the task with its T-CORE integrated inductors. It first mastered the 141265 (1.4mm×1.2mm×0.65mm) series, then developed even smaller 121065 and 1005 models to meet extreme size needs. These inductors enabled packing 16 power inductors and 5 common-mode inductors onto a<50mm-long PCB (≈900mm²).



Today, its ultra-mini inductors are used in multiple AI glasses models, helping brands launch products and gain strong market response.

  1. II. Technical Pain Points: Three Core Contradictions to Be Addressed Urgently

  2. 1. Space Constraint Contradiction: Traditional NR wire-wound inductors occupy relatively large space on the motherboard and generally have moderate power. Traditional integrated inductors offer sufficient power but are too bulky. Changjiang Microelectronics' FTC series power inductors feature extreme miniaturization, and their bottom electrode technology can significantly reduce the SMD area of the PCB. This allows engineers to arrange more FTC series inductors on a smaller-sized PCB.


2. Power Performance Requirement: For traditional NR wire-wound inductors of the same volume, neither the temperature rise current nor the saturation current can meet customers' extreme power consumption requirements. The FTC series integrated inductors adopt a T-CORE + flat wire winding design: the T-CORE enhances magnetic saturation density, while the flat wire winding design reduces DCR (Direct Current Resistance). This greatly lowers the power consumption of AI glasses and effectively addresses the battery life issue of AI glasses.

3.EMI and EMC Interference: The FTC series power inductors adopt a closed magnetic circuit design, which effectively reduces the EMI and EMC interference of the inductor in the circuit within a smaller space.

  1. Manufacturing Process of FTC Series Integrated Inductors: They adopt T-core technology + flat wire winding technology. The T-core increases magnetic saturation density, while the flat wire winding technology effectively reduces DCR (Direct Current Resistance), followed by multiple molding processes. The company uses self-developed high-efficiency, high-saturation composite alloy powder and fully automated winding equipment.

  2. FTC Series Inductors: They cover sizes from the 1005 to 5050 series, with over 40 models in different size ranges. The extensive product selection fully meets the development needs of engineers in various fields.
